NORDIC WALKING is a sport that does great things for your health,
says our Nordic Walking instructor, NINA.
Every week we offer you a Nordic Walking Workshop in order to learn and improve your Nordic Walking technique.
WHAT is NORDIC WALKING ?
Nordic Walking is walking with the assistance of special poles that are not gripped, instead swinging freely next to the body during each arm movement. This new and healthful sport comes from Finland, where it was introduced in 1967, since which time it has rapidly grown in popularity. Around 500,000 Finns are regularly involved in Nordic Walking and over one million, some 30 percent of the total population of Finland, have tried the sport at least once in their life.
46 percent more effective
With respect to pulse rate and calorie consumption, Nordic Walking is as much as 46 percent more effective than normal walking, yet without putting any more strain on the body. In fact, it is kinder on the joints and results in less sweating than jogging. Which means, Nordic Walking is lots of fun and an ideal approach to gentle fitness.
Nordic Walking is healthy exercise
If done correctly, it has all kinds of health benefits, making sporting activity more accessible than ever before. Through Nordic Walking, you will enhance your sense of wellbeing and discover how enjoyable fitness can truly be.
Via flat pathways through Tyrol's most famous valleys
There they stand, those world-famous Tyrolean mountains - the Zillertal Alps, the Karwendelgebirge, the Kitzbühel Alps and the Nordkette - majestically flanking the way and providing a spectacular backdrop for cyclists.
And yet, despite all of these 3500m-high peaks, you will be cycling along flat paths through the valleys of Tyrol.
The Zillertal and Inntal Valleys offer outstanding routes for leisurely bike rides. Enjoy unforgettable impressions of the Tyrolean countryside between Innsbruck and Kufstein. Beautiful villages, lined up like a glorious string of pearls along the banks of the River Inn - plus beautiful lakes to swim in and mountain scenery beyond compare.
And there are, of course, countless attractions along the way:
- Innsbruck, the Olympic City
- Crystal Worlds in Wattens
- The smallest town in Austria - Rattenberg
- Historic silver mine in Schwaz
- Alpine dairies and bacon producers
along with countless castles and palaces.
And all of that without every having to repack your suitcases - since Fügen serves as your ideal base for all of these tours.
You can explore these bike routes as part of a guided tour or on your own with the help of a detailed bike map, which you can obtain from our reception desk.
Swap the humidity of the city for the refreshing energy of the mountains
Clean air, crystal-clear springs, lush mountain meadows filled with fragrant herbs, breathtaking Alpine scenery - look forward to reenergizing vacation experiences set amid the intact natural landscapes of the Zillertal.
The Zillertal is an absolute must for each and every fan of nature and hiking.
Over 1000 km of marked hiking paths await intrepid mountaineers, with countless tours that range from easy to challenging.
Of course, we understand that dangling from a rock face isn't everyone's cup of tea, at least to start out. But rest assured, this region offers plenty of opportunities for carefree hikes - challenges in their own right, yet still giving you ample opportunity to soak in the scenery and recharge your batteries. Great opportunities for the whole family, punctuated along the way with well-earned rest and refreshments at Alpine huts and mountain inns.
All-inclusive with the Zillertal ActivCard 2009.
Our Tyrol-certified mountain guide, NINA, looks forward to showing you some of the most beautiful places in the Zillertal Valley.
